Why Brookby?

Why, because we are better value for money than those of a similar price range.

Brookby Motel is a quality six-unit motel with a nice welcoming feel about it – the reason why so many guests prefer to return again and again. The most common remark is that the units are clean, quiet and well-appointed and they would definitely return again should the opportunity arise. Indeed, many of our guests are either those that have stayed before or who have been recommended by others that have stayed here.

The general opinion is that Brookby is one of the best motels in the Thames region - at least, that’s according to pages of favourable comments in our guest book.

Your host Barbara Kershaw goes to great lengths to ensure that all comforts are met and that there is no ‘impersonal motel’ feeling while staying here. All the units have been recently renovated, all the beds, lounge and kitchen equipment have been replaced and high-speed wireless internet installed.

All units have a booklet which provides information about things to do, the history of Thames, the gold-mining past of the Brookby site, restaurants, shops and large shopping mall (which are only a 5 minute walk away), as well as information relating to the Coromandel Peninsula of which Thames is the main commercial town and serves as an excellent base from which to do all your touring around the region.

Brookby is all that you'll ever need to plan your tour around the Coromandel Peninsula, and is a perfect place to relax while you make all your preparations.

Our location is unique because it is the most central of all motels in Thames yet it is the quietest! This is because the motel is set in a quiet residential area by a brook and cannot be seen from the main road, so you have to know that it’s there. Signposts on some of the town’s lamp posts are about the only indication that we are here and shows the true nature of a small town (pop 6,700) – you don’t have to go far to be in a bush setting.  For bird watchers, there is a bird hide for coastal birds down by the tidal flats at the southern end of the miniature railway tracks.

Our motto is  “A rippling brook, A tranquil scene, A place to rest, A traveller’s dream” and for good reason because we offer a quiet bush setting with no traffic noise – only the brook and the birds. We are only a 5-minute walk to central Thames for shopping, dining etc., or short walks to the hills with views, walking trails through the forest for longer tramps (walks).

A complimentary copy of New Zealand Herald and a choice of continental or cooked breakfasts are available on request.  Newspapers and breakfasts are delivered to your unit at times specified by you
